These Incredibly Cute Scrubs Actually Make Me Excited To Clean My Dishes
Ever since I moved a thousand miles away from my mom, she’s found a new passion: browsing Amazon’s home and kitchen section to find products for me. I’m used to receiving WhatsApp messages from her in the middle of the night (she’s on India time) about these life-changing spice containers or the best tool to de-fuzz my sofa. So a few months ago when I heard my phone ping at 1 a.m. on a Saturday night, I knew it was my mom with one of her Amazon links. And sure enough, she had found me the best dish scrubs that were simply “too cute” (her words). I clicked on the link and I had to agree with my mom: These were adorable! Even better? They were priced at just $11.99 for a pack of three.
Once my fruit-shaped scrubs arrived, I displayed them on my silicone sink tray for a few days, hesitant to put these cuties down to do some real work. But I guess my husband didn’t get the memo because he used one of them (if you’re curious, it was the slice of watermelon) to scrub his chai pot and strainer. Scrubbing the remnants of intensely boiled tea leaves, milk, and sugar usually leaves my regular scrubs in a terrible, smelly state, but these fruit scrubs seemed like they were designed to tackle tough, ingrained stains. The scrubs are made with double layers of polyester yarn that look bristly but are actually super soft and fluffy to the touch, which means that they’re great for cleaning but won’t leaving any scratches on cookware and delicate plates. Win-win!
Another major pro about these scrubs is that they’re odor free. I obviously put that claim to the test with a rigorous month of using one (still the watermelon!) to tackle all my dirty cookware, dishes, oven racks, colanders, and (of course) the daily chai pot. My husband and I were both surprised to see that the scrubs definitely didn’t retain any weird smells or give off that nasty lingering odor that dish scrubs are so famous for. Just to keep things clean, I also tossed them in the dishwasher every couple of days, and they stood up to an intense three-hour hot cycle without disintegrating or falling apart.
And I’m not the only one who’s smitten with these adorable scrubs. They have a solid 4.7-star rating on Amazon, with reviewers saying things like “HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!,” “Definitely worth the money,” and “I love washing with these.”
But all that function aside, the biggest joy for me has been holding a slice of fluffy watermelon (yes, two months in and I’m still on my first scrub!) to tackle my truckload of dishes. What can I say, my mom was 100 percent spot-on: Cute objects definitely make daily chores way more fun.
