The Easy, Last-Minute Gift You Didn’t Realize You Could Get on Amazon
You know those weeks that are just so busy, you can’t even stop to tie your shoe? All you can do is hold your breath until the weekend. And luckily you’ve got a party you’ve been looking forward to going to. But, oh man, you probably need to get the guest of honor a little something. Ah! Yeah, you know what we’re talking about.
So do the folks at Amazon, apparently. Which probably explains why the site carries gift cards to many of our favorite stores and restaurants.
Let us explain: In addition to gift cards to Amazon (which you’d totally expect the site to have), you can also order physical cards (usually in whatever amounts you want) for places like Starbucks, Whole Foods, Chipotle, and more.
Why would you want to do this when you can usually get these sorts of cards at, say, CVS? Because, well, then you’d have to go to CVS! And there’s not always time for that! These cards come with Prime shipping and are not just emailed to the recipient (although there are usually options for that, too, if you prefer). And because it’s Amazon (versus going directly to the company), your shipping address and payment method probably already comes up, saving you the time it would take to type in all that information.
Once you pick the the store or restaurant you want a gift card for, you can usually shop around for the design you like best. For example, Starbucks has an option that says “Happy birthday,” or “Thank you,” or just plain cards with the iconic logo, or an ugly sweater for the holidays … you get the point. Add the amount you want and check out. There’s no added fee and you can order from your desk while you pretend to listen in on a conference call and simultaneously re-up on kitchen sponges.
