The 25 Best Things Kitchn Readers Recently Bought on Amazon (Not During Prime Day!)
Now that Amazon Prime day is behind us, things are getting back to normal. That means none of our editors have to wake up at 3 in the morning and you guys can go back to buying things without wondering if they’re going to go on major sale in the near future. To help get things back on track, we asked Kitchn readers to tell us about some of their favorite recent Amazon purchases. Purchases that had nothing to do with Prime Day.
Here are our 25 favorite scores. In no way are we telling you that you must buy everything on this list … but who are we to stop you?
“A roll-up silicone drying rack … for drying dishes and draining cleaned produce. I’ve had it a month and love it — finding new uses every day. Goes right in the dishwasher too!”
“We always grind our own coffee beans every time we brew. It’s the best … and this is our second machine. Hopeful it lasts as many years as the first!”
“Coffee grinder, specifically the Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder! So clean and easy!“
“A new OXO zester! I had been limping along with a little cheap one I bought years ago and was getting ready to make a couple of Key lime pies for a party. Now I want to zest everything!”
“I finally bought a super-cushy floor mat. It’s a Sky Mat from Amazon. Looks great, and so divine when washing dishes or stirring a roux for 40 minutes! Mine is 24×70 inches, which is perfect for my galley kitchen ($87.97, worth every penny). Black looks great with my black appliances. I thought it would be tough to clean (I bake a lot and spill a lot), but for some reason it stays pretty clean — a quick paper towel wipe is all it ever needs!”
6. Egguru Electric Egg Cooker, $15
“This makes the best hard-boiled eggs I’ve ever had!”
7. Breville Variable Temperature Kettle, $160
“Programmable temperature kettle from Breville. It’s so sleek and the beeps are subtle and quiet. I also like that the text for the different temperatures is *above* the buttons and not *on* the button, where it will wear away after hundreds of presses.”
8. OXO Tot Grape Cutter, $11
“An OXO Tot grape cutter! Totally frivolous and absolutely useful!”
9. Microwave 2-Cavity Egg Poacher, $10
“A two-egg poacher that makes eggs in the microwave. It’s awesome. I love my breakfast.”
10. 12-Cup Hamilton Beach Food Processor, $50
“I don’t know how I survived so long with out one!”
11. 3-Quart Instant Pot DUO Mini, $60
“A 3-quart Instant Pot. (We also have a 6-quart, but the smaller pot is better for just two people, which is most of the time.)”
12. KitchenAid 9-Speed Hand Mixer, $100
“A candy apple red KitchenAid hand mixer!“
“A Rachael Ray oval spaghetti pot. I now use less water and the noodles fit in the pot.”
“The best thing I recently bought for my kitchen was an air fryer. I love that thing.”
15. Cuisinart Electric Griddler, $73
“A Cuisinart panini maker. It not only makes sandwiches, but also wonderful, fast quesadillas. So easy to clean, too.”
16. Cuisinart Belgian Waffle Maker, $43
“My first-ever waffle maker. I’m obsessed!”
“A mini manual OXO food processor. Perfect for small quantities of chopping, shredding, and mixing for recipes for two. I love it!”
“A pastry/dough cutter and surface scraper. I used it to make orecchiette.”
19. Kirkland Stretch Tite Food Wrap, $27
“Commercial-sized plastic wrap!”
20. PUR Ultimate Water Dispenser, $35
“A PUR water dispenser for the fridge.”
“Le Creuset baking dishes!”
22. Johnsonville Sizzling Sausage Grill, $75
23. Microplane Zester Grater, $13
“Microplane zester! Now I know what lime zest can do!”
24. Amazon Smart Plug, $25
“A smart plug for the coffee pot so it’s ready when I get up!”
25. ChefSteps Joule Sous Vide, $200
“A sous vide device. It makes perfect steaks every time! Cook to your desired temperature, then dry/finish/sear for a minute or two per side in butter on cast iron for a flavorful char.”
