Starting as soon as next week, you will be able to enjoy Alyse Whitney’s Korean-ish Brown Butter Blondies without having to make them yourself. The food editor — who joined The Kitchn as a guest editor this month to help us celebrate AAPI Heritage Month — has partnered with a Los Angeles-based bakery to repurpose her family-inspired recipe for a good cause.

On Thursday, May 19 (that’s today!) The Very Best Cookie In The World began accepting online pre-orders for the not-too-sweet dessert bars and will begin shipping orders across the country on May 24. Twenty percent of proceeds from the collaboration will benefit Adopteen, a program created by The Park Adoption Community Center to help adopted AAPI youth connect with their cultures through a variety of initiatives.

Launched in 2007, Adopteen was created by adoptees to help young adult and teen adoptees not only better understand who they are as individuals, but also find a sense of community. According to the organization’s website, Adopteen has connected over 7,500 people around the world through retreats, camps, and conferences. Program participants over 14 also serve as mentors for 8-12 year olds through the Adoptween program.

During her time with us, Whitney shared the role food has played in helping her connect with other Asian American adoptees. And on Wednesday, May 18, she partnered with Adopteen to adapt that conversation for a younger audience as part of an online screening and panel discussion around the new documentary FOUND.

Ready to order your batch and give to a good cause while doing so? Alyse Whitney’s Korean-ish Brown Butter Blondies, can be purchased online for $7 each. You can also get a pack of her sweet and savory faves sold at The Very Best Cookie that includes four of her Korean-ish blondies, two Not Yo Mamma’s RKTs, and two Buttah Pecan cookies for $52.
