Cleaning windows with vinegar

I love a clean home, but I don’t like using a bunch of products since cleaning products are notoriously packed with chemicals. If you’re buying different cleaners for carpet, surfaces, the bathroom, toilet, glass, floors, wood, the oven, and more (as the cleaning product companies would have you do), then it can really add up. Plus, where are you supposed to store all of these bottles and brushes?

It’s for these exact reasons that I’ve gotten into mixing up my own cleaners. I make my own surface cleaner and bathroom cleaner, and frequently use baking soda (the ultimate multi-tasker) for tougher cleans. But one cleaner I haven’t been able to replicate is glass cleaner. I still have a bottle of the store-bought bright blue stuff sitting under my sink. After seeing @carolina.mccauley‘s DIY glass cleaner post on Instagram though, I’m going to give homemade window and mirror cleaner another shot.

Her formula is so simple and I already have all of the ingredients ready to go. The self-proclaimed “home hacks queen” simply combines one cup of white vinegar, one cup of hot water, a few drops of liquid dish soap, and a few drops of essential oils in a spray bottle. That’s it! And if you’re looking for cleaning inspiration, Carolina has plenty of other cleaning and home organization hacks (like how to remove oil stains from clothes and linens!) on her Instagram and TikTok.

I love a DIY cleaner that only requires a few household ingredients, so it’s definitely worth a shot. Fingers crossed that this homemade glass cleaner is the key to turning my entire cleaning arsenal all-natural!
