The All-Clad VIP Sale Ends Tonight — and It Includes Kitchn Editor and Alton Brown Favorites

Maybe you’ve seen us write about this All-Clad VIP Sale before and dismissed it, assuming that it’s just the dregs and that all the best stuff is probably excluded? Well, you’d be wrong. Very, very wrong. See, this sale is legit good. So good, in fact, that this time around, we not only spotted pieces that Kitchn editors love, but we also found one item that’s key in Alton Brown’s kitchen.

First, allow us to explain a few things. Number one: The sale started August 12 at 9 a.m. EST and usually lasts two days. But the good news is that the sale has been extended through August 18, which means you have more time to shop! Number two: The sale is hosted by Home and Cooks Sales and can be accessed by entering your email address here.

As for the pieces in the sale—which include stainless steel pieces and sets, copper core and anodized pieces, and even BBQ tools—well, none of the items have defects that affect their performance (it’s all cosmetic). In some cases, it’s just that the boxes have been beat up. Or maybe there’s a minor scratch or dent on something. We’ve previously bought pieces from this sale and have seriously struggled to find their “issues!”

And now, on to some of those favorite pieces we mentioned.

We loved this deal the last time All-Clad ran its VIP sale, so we’re happy to see it included this time around as well. The 13-piece set is just $325 (normally $900—that’s a discount of 64 percent!) and includes an 8-inch, 10-inch- and 12-inch fry pan, 2.5-quart and 3.5-quart sauce pans with lids, a 4-quart sauté pan with lid, a 4-quart soup pot with lid, and an 8-quart stockpot with lid.

“Before I got this pan for Christmas one year, the largest sauté pan in my cupboard was a 3-quart version,” says Editor-in-Chief, Faith Durand. “And that is just not big enough to brown a batch of beef for a whole pot of beef stew, or to cook a whole bag of kale. It would steam meat instead of browning it, and it was always overflowing greens or rice onto the stove. This one is plenty big! It features a large surface area and tall sides. I use it for chicken, fish, and all the things.”

3. Stainless Steel Tea Kettle, $50 (normally $100)

We love this stainless steel tea kettle for so many reasons. First, check out that sleek design, which would look great sitting on any stovetop. Second, it features a flat bottom and tight-fitting lid that help make water boil faster. And third, it’s dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning a breeze.

“The sloped sides make this pan perfect for building sauces and keeps things (like sugar) from burning on the sides,” says Associate Food Editor Meghan Splawn, who worked with Alton Brown for 10 years on the set of Good Eats and on his cookbooks. We originally used this pan for making Alton’s pilaf recipe and then he just kept reaching or it for everything else.”

5. 13-by-16-inch Hard Anodized Roaster, $54 (normally $150)

This pan can handle everything from a Thanksgiving turkey to a bushel of root veggies,” says contributor Patty Catalano. “It never buckles in the heat of the oven and the handles are sturdy and wide enough to easily grasp with oven mitts. It’s an investment piece, for sure, but I know I’ll never have to buy another again.”

“This is actually one of my favorite pans of all time,” Faith says. “It’s the granddaddy of pans: It’s heavy, cooks evenly, and has enough surface space for searing or sautéing a whole meal.”

This little pan got called out by two Kitchn editors. “I use it just about every day! It’s great for making custards and buttercream bases, reheating soups, and making rice,” says Kaitlin Garske, senior social media manager.

“Everyone should own this two-quart pot!” Meghan adds. “I bought it for making candy — its just the right size for a batch of fudge or caramel sauce — but now I use it all the time for popcorn for my kids and boiling Annie’s mac and cheese! Also, gravy!”

9. 8-Quart d5 Stock Pot with Lid, $170 (normally $445)

“I use this a lot for stocks, beans, soups, braises — so many things,” Kaitlin says.”It is heavy, but a lot lighter than my Dutch oven, which I appreciate because I have joint problems. Although I try not to use metal in it, I appreciate that I can be a little less precious with it than I am with my enameled cookware.”
