It’s almost time to put that grill away — but not before getting a few outdoor cookouts in! As everyone’s gearing up for Labor Day, we’ve all got our eyes peeled for the best things to throw on the grill, from steaks to ribs

Of course, there’s nothing that beats a classic burger — except maybe a smashed burger.

A smashed burger, sometimes also known as a smash burger, is quite simply a burger that is smashed onto the grill with a spatula. Doing this creates a better crust or sear, which tastes delicious and also helps to up flavor for a juicy final result.

Smashed burgers have been incredibly trendy for a few years now, and it seems every restaurant or celebrity chef has their own spin on what is quickly becoming a classic.  If you haven’t tried one yet, Aldi just made it easier than ever by introducing them to their frozen food aisle.

Aldi’s latest frozen food staple is Holten’s Chop House Smashed Burgers. These burgers are 100 percent beef and come in a package of eight patties, making them ideal for an outdoor cookout or dinner.

Everyone from Instagram Aldi fans to Reddit users is very excited about this development.  “Wow, I was skeptical of frozen hamburger patties but these taste like you just got them from a really good restaurant. I served them on a brioche bun with grilled onions in butter and melted cheese,” said one Reddit user. “They are deeee-licious!” said a comment on another Reddit post

According to the product packaging, each burger weighs in at 4 ounces, and while it comes frozen, defrosting is not necessary. Just toss it on the grill (or in the air fryer or cast iron pan) and it’ll be ready in a few minutes. These burgers sell for $7.99 a package, which comes out to about $1 a burger… bet you can’t find that at your local fast food spot!
