If you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, chances are you’ve already started saving recipes and tallying up the turkey timeline. Grocery stores get in early on the festivities, too, by showcasing new seasonal items and giving holiday staples center stage. Aldi is no different, and if you’ve visited one of its locations recently you’ve probably seen the iconic Dutch apple pie along the bakery wall and cans of pumpkin purée and cranberry sauce stacked in the aisles.

The beloved discount grocer has what you need — whether you’re hosting the meal or just bringing a dish to share. When I’m stocking up at Aldi, one item that I’ll be buying specifically for that fourth Thursday in November is Season’s Choice Frozen Cut Green Beans.

What’s So Great About Season’s Choice Frozen Cut Green Beans?

Hosting a multicourse meal for the entire family is a complex and expensive endeavor. The best way to mitigate both of those obstacles is to take shortcuts and cut costs where you can. That’s easy to do when you shop at Aldi and buy Season’s Choice Frozen Cut Green Beans.

A 12-ounce bag of these green beans costs just $0.96. Frozen vegetables are a great choice to use in Thanksgiving recipes because they have been blanched and frozen, so most of the prep work is already done before you open the bag.

What’s the Best Way to Serve Season’s Choice Frozen Cut Green Beans?

One of the essential Thanksgiving side dishes is green bean casserole. While some people like to take a shortcut by using a can of condensed soup, I take a different approach: I reduce prep time by replacing fresh green beans with frozen ones. This year I’m considering adding za’atar to my casserole for a twist on the traditional dish.

Even if you don’t serve green beans as a casserole, there’s always a place for the crisp and colorful veggie on the table. This Green Bean Salad with Farro and Crispy Shallots is as flavorful as it is beautiful. Simply thaw the green beans and skip the blanching step in the recipe.

Consider picking up a second bag to bulk up Thanksgiving leftovers. You’ll want to include green beans in your turkey pot pie, turkey noodle soup, and turkey shepherd’s pie.

Find it in stores: Season’s Choice Frozen Cut Green Beans, $0.96 for 12 ounces
