Fall has finally arrived, which means we can finally enjoy the seasonal goodies we’ve been waiting for all year: pumpkin spice lattes, apple pie, and seasonal beer. Also, let’s not forget about Aldi’s annual collection of seasonal wine and beer. Surprisingly, Aldi turned to a tried-and-true classic as a source for this year’s inspiration: last year’s Advent calendar.

Aldi’s Advent calendars, released each November, are among the store’s most anticipated items. Shoppers wait patiently for the beautifully designed boxes chock-full of treats, like liquor, spirits, chocolate, and cheese, that only come around once a year.

This year, Aldi turned to its beloved booze-filled Advent calendar to offer shoppers the chance to weigh in on its seasonal drink offerings. Shoppers voted on their favorite beverages from the 2023 Advent calendar, and winners will make their debut on Aldi shelves this fall as part of the store’s seasonal wine and beer lineup.

Two varieties of beer were the clear favorites. State of Brewing Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter, which carefully strikes the balance of being sweet without being overly sweet, has subtle hints of coffee and mocha. The six-pack will retail for $8.99. State of Brewing Holiday Ale has hints of cinnamon, ginger, and orange peel, and the six-pack will retail for $7.99. Both flavors will be available at Aldi on Oct. 4.

If you’re too excited to wait until October to try Aldi’s seasonal beer, worry not, because the store also has three delicious new wines making their debut on Sept. 6. For champagne drinkers who don’t necessarily want to pay champagne prices, Aldi’s Cremant d’Alsace is just what the sommelier ordered: It’s a French sparkling wine made from Pinot Blanc grapes. Red wine enthusiasts will delight in the store’s Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, the first Oregon varietal ever sold at Aldi, or opt for Chianti Riserva, aged 24 months to achieve its full-bodied flavor. The best part? All three wines are priced under $15.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Aldi’s 2024 Advent calendar, because in addition to being filled with tasty seasonal treats, it might hold a few clues as to what you can expect from next year’s wine and beer lineup.
