Aldi Is Selling Boozy, Green Cheese for St. Patrick’s Day
If you believe hard enough, you can turn anything you consume on St. Patrick’s Day into an electric green color. All you need is some green food coloring and your imagination. Some of the most popular things to turn green on the rowdy holiday include beer, more beer, and bagels (this one never made sense to me). But I bet you’ve never seen this green food before.
German grocery giant, ALDI, is upping its game for St. Patricks Day this year by debuting a line of cheeses. Some of them are green, some of them are boozy (!!!), and all are worthy of your affection and dollar bills. And here’s the kicker: none of the green ones are actually dyed green — they’re au natural, baby.
The selection of green cheeses includes Pesto Gouda and English Sage Derby. They are both a brilliant green color (naturally!). The boozy line consists of an Aged Irish Cheddar, Irish Cheddar with Beer, and Irish Cheddar with Whiskey. All of the cheeses are made by the brand Happy Farms.
The cheeses will be available at ALDI stories nationwide beginning February 27 (that’s really soon, you guys!). And each block of cheese will only cost $3.99, which means you can buy all of them and still have money leftover for extra beer and those green bagels that people apparently love.
This isn’t the first time that ALDI has gone all in on interesting cheeses for a special occasion. In fact, just this month they debuted a line of punny cheeses intended for Valentine’s Day (“Wake Me Up Before You Goat Goat” was my personal favorite). I’m hoping this cheesy theme continues throughout the year. Can you even imagine what Halloween cheese will look like?
