I Just Grabbed 3 of Aldi’s Adorable New $9 “Living Decor” Gem (with Hidden Storage!)

With Christmas right around the corner, I’ve spent the last week scouring my favorite stores for last-minute gifts. I’m also frequenting grocery stores to make sure I have all my recipe ingredients for the festivities. Luckily, grocery stores are one of the best places to snag items at decent prices, perfect for gift-giving — and German discount superstore Aldi is one of my favorite places to shop for gift deals. 

This week, when I walked into my local Aldi for my weekly grocery and “Aisle of Shame” run, I was lucky to spot the cutest ceramic Santa vase with a Kalanchoe plant right near the checkout line. They were so adorably festive, I bought three! The vase came in four hat colors: red, pink, white, and icy blue, with three hues of blooms: red, white, and pink. They couldn’t be more perfect for the holidays! 

I plan to give two away as gifts this year, but I’m keeping one as a gift to myself to add a pop of color to my kitchen table. It’s such a bright, fun vase and easy-to-care-for plant, and it’s a jolly centerpiece for my family’s annual holiday breakfast on Christmas morning. I opted for the vibrant red kalanchoes that matched Santa’s red hat. 

A staple in the Aldi plant section, a kalanchoe is a lovely flowering houseplant that only needs water and sunlight to be a beautiful “living decor” item in your home. They’ll even make an ideal gift for those who don’t have the greenest thumb. 

But even aside from the plant — the ceramic Santa vase is also a stellar storage find. There are so many ways to use this jovial gem: You can undoubtedly place another plant in it next year, or use it in your kitchen as festive cooking utensil storage. Even more, you could make up a batch of your favorite holiday cookies, and give the ceramic Santa filled with cookies to a neighbor or a loved one. What could be sweeter?
