Aldi is on the short list of grocery stores I visit every week — the sandwich bread rivals a name-brand favorite, there’s frozen pie that could totally pass for homemade, and they have the best butter! If you’ve been waiting for a good time to visit your local Aldi for the first time (or as a repeat customer), there is no better time than now, IMO. The store’s shelves are stocked with rows and rows of summer snacks and supplies to get you through the sunniest of seasons — as well as a ton of tasty options to throw on the grill.

If you’ve also hung the “Do Not Disturb” tag on your oven door, this list is for you. Here are the 10 best Aldi groceries you can buy for your grill.

1. Simply Nature Uncured Beef Hot Dogs, $6.19 for 10 ounces

No summer cookout is complete without hot dogs snuggled in a soft bun and dressed with ketchup and yellow mustard. Aldi carries a variety of house-brand hot dogs, but I always reach for the Simply Nature brand which is organic, non-GMO, and includes no artificial preservatives or ingredients. It’s simply an easy dinner that I can feel good about.

2. Simply Nature 100% Grass Fed Ground Beef, $5.99 for 1 pound

When hot dogs are on the menu, a beef burger can’t be far behind! A better burger starts with better beef. The ground beef from Aldi’s Simply Nature brand is grass-fed and has a good lean-to-fat ratio for rich and juicy burgers. Sprinkle some seasoning onto the beef, then shape into patties — just don’t handle the meat too much before they hit the grill.

3. Happy Farms Sliced Cheese, $1.79 for 7.5 ounces

Aldi is known for their cheese selection, so don’t overlook the pre-sliced varieties they have to offer. You can personalize your burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, and even potato packets with the likes of Colby Jack, pepper Jack, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese slices! Make sure to try a Juicy Lucy for the cheesiest grilled dinner.

4. Bratwurst, $3.99 for 19 ounces

Bratwurst are my secret to stress-free summer gatherings. These fresh sausages come already seasoned and pre-portioned, so I can spend more time playing in the pool and less time prepping the pork. Simmer the sausages in beer or broth until completely cooked, then crisp the casing on a grill. Serve family-style with grilled peppers and onions, soft potato rolls, and spicy mustard.

5. Sea Queen USA Gulf Shrimp, $6.99 for 12 ounces

Aldi is the place to stock up on proteins for your patio parties, and that includes the seafood variety! Frozen shrimp are the freshest I can get until I visit the seashore this summer. Thankfully the grocer stocks USA Gulf-caught shrimp that you can skewer and serve or tuck into tacos topped with tomatillo salsa.

6. Simply Nature Whole Milk Plain Yogurt, $3.79 for 32 ounces

Yes, yogurt belongs on your must-have grill grocery list. It’s the base for the easy three-ingredient marinade I make EVERY SINGLE WEEK of summer. It is so versatile, I never tire of it because you can swap the citrus or the proteins and it tastes completely new! The one constant ingredient, whether you’ve chosen lemon or lime, pork or chicken is the yogurt base.

7. Specially Selected Naan Flatbread, $4.29 for 4 count

Grilling pizzas and flatbreads isn’t the novelty it once was, but that isn’t stopping me. It’s easy to mix up a yogurt-based dough (especially since you’ve got yogurt on hand this summer, right?), but you can keep summer suppers simple by sliding bakery-bought soft flatbreads onto the grill. Top grilled naan with creamy hummus and a cucumber-tomato salad, fold them around steak and veggie kebabs, or go classic and use as the base for margherita pizza.

8. Simply Nature Fair Trade Organic Ground Coffee, $6.19 for 12 ounces

I’ve long loved Aldi’s coffee selection for my morning brew. The bold beans are also exactly what you need as a dinnertime pick-me-up! Combine ground coffee with spices and dark brown sugar, then rub on all sides of your favorite cut of steak. The coffee crust crisps and caramelizes while bringing out all of the robust and roasted flavors of the coffee and the steak.

9. Emporium Selection Halloumi Grilling Cheese $3.49 for 7 ounces

Aldi’s Emporium Selection Halloumi cheese is the ultimate grill-friendly ingredient for summer. Grill halloumi and scatter over salad instead of croutons or on a bun with fresh summer eggplant for a vegetarian main. Finish the meal by sliding the halloumi onto skewers with summer fruit for dessert.

10. Season’s Choice Steamed Brussels Sprouts, $1.25 for 12 ounces

Brussels sprouts are standard fall fare, but grilled Brussels sprouts are an unexpected way to serve these itty-bitty bundles. Or bring your cast iron skillet out to the grill and serve them smashed. These sprouts are blanched before freezing, so you can easily slide a skewer through or smash with the base of a glass once they’ve thawed.
