Not only does Aldi have a decent amount of gluten-free options, but it also has its very own private-label brand that specializes specifically in gluten-free options. The folks behind the brand know a thing or three about gluten-free products, and because they’re labeled clearly and, for the most part, grouped together in the store, it’s really easy to find all the options. This weekend, on a whim, I bought every snack in the liveGfree line that my local Aldi had on offer. My husband was confused (we both eat a lot of gluten!) but he was soon on board, once I handed him a bag of pretzel sticks.

Here are the gluten-free snacks we (and some friends who happened to be visiting) liked the best. Stay tuned, too, because I’m going to do a taste test of the rest of the liveGfree line soon (think: gluten-free chicken fingers, veggie burgers, mac and cheese, and more).

1. Caramel Apple Baked Chewy Bars, $2.69 for five

I also bought the chocolate version of these (Cocoa Loco) and was convinced I was going to like those the best. They were good, but these were so much better (and I like chocolate!). They straight-up smell like an apple pie. The chewy-ness is JUST right and they remind me of the soft granola bars I used to eat as a kid.

2. Pretzel Sticks, $2.19 for eight ounces

If you set these out in a bowl for a party, I’m not sure anyone would notice that they’re gluten-free (especially if you pair them with a dip). They have less salt than the picture on the bag would lead you to believe and they’ve got a hint of sweetness to them, which I love. There’s also mini twists, if you prefer that shape.

3. Snickerdoodle Soft Baked Cookies, $2.79 for six ounces

These cookies don’t have that cinnamon-y/sugar-y grit that snickerdoodles usually have, but the flavor is all there. They’re also chewy AND cake-y at the same time. My only complaint is that they’re fairly small, although you do get 12 in a box. Twelve for me and none for you …

4. Sea Salt Multiseed Snack Cracks, $1.99 for 4.25 ounces

These crackers are somehow salty, sweet, and savory! I’m sure they’d be great with a dip or on a cheese plate, but I wouldn’t know because we ate the whole bag before we could try to pair them with anything else.

5. Sweet Chili Brown Rice Crisps, $2.49 for seven ounces

Normally I don’t like anything too spicy, and my husband hates barbecue-flavored chips; however we both liked these crisps! As the name implies, they’re a little sweet and a little spicy — and perfectly crunchy.

6. Black Sesame Brown Rice Crisps, $2.49 for seven ounces

As much as we loved the Sweet Chili version, the black sesame was mind-blowing. You can REALLY taste the seeds and we liked these more than the sesame sticks we normally buy. They’re also sweet, salty, and very sesame-y.

7. Apple Almond Honey Granola, $3.49 for 12 ounces

Another apple-flavored treat! There’s also a version with cranberries and another one with raisins, but the tiny pieces of freeze-dried apple chunks won out in our books. We loved how it seemed to turn a bowl of Greek yogurt into a dessert-worthy treat. (Probably because it’s not super low in sugar, but you’ve gotta treat yourself sometimes!)
