The 3 Frozen Foods This Nutritionist Always Buys at Aldi
Ever since I discovered all the wonderful things you can buy at Aldi on a budget, I’ve come up with a slew of go-to items that are always on my list. And surprise! This list always includes frozen foods. I actually prefer to buy most of my fruits and veggies frozen versus fresh. I find the frozen stuff to be much more budget-friendly, less wasteful (at least some fresh stuff always goes bad before you can get to it!), and easy to use in oh-so-many recipes.
While I do get most of my frozen foods at Costco, there are some things I don’t necessary need in bulk, so I get them at Aldi. Here’s what on my shopping list.
1. Simply Nature Organic Berries
Simply Nature is Aldi’s main organic brand, and everything from this line impresses me — especially the frozen berries. Simply Nature’s frozen strawberries and blueberries are delicious and so fresh-tasting, despite being frozen! I pick up a few bags of these each time I go and snack on them right out of the freezer, use them in smoothies, or even use them in oatmeal and on top of whole-grain cereal.
2. Simply Nature Organic Chunky Strawberry Fruit Bars
You won’t find many ice pops in my freezer since most of them have preservatives and way too much sugar for my liking, but these organic ones by Simply Nature are a true and fine exception! I always look for fruit bars made with real fruit, without any refined sugar (these have a little bit of natural unrefined cane sugar), and very little added sweeteners (or no added sweeteners). I love that these have a simple ingredient list and no funny ingredients, preservatives, artificial colors, or sweeteners!
3. Simply Nature Organic Frozen Fruit and Veggie Bars
Okay, you got me: You will find TWO boxes of ice pops in my freezer! Of course, these aren’t the same as eating a bowl of broccoli, but they do have veggies in them. They’re a delicious and fun find without any artificial ingredients, GMOs, or refined sugar or sweeteners whatsoever. They come in a variety of veggie and fruit blends, but I love the Blueberry Medley variety and the Tangerine and Carrot variety.
