The KitchenAid stand mixer is probably one of the most coveted kitchen appliances on the market today (second only to the Vitamix blender) but let's just be honest: It's prohibitively expensive for most people, especially people who are still baking amateurs.

Luckily, Aldi is finally restocking its less expensive version of the stand mixer, which has a similarly sleek design. When it first debuted last year, we tested the mixer out for ourselves, and discovered that it's the perfect gift for someone who wants to break into the baking game.

The Aldi stand mixer has all the accessories you need to sharpen your baking skills: a dough hook, paddle, whisk, and even a splash guard (if you've ever been dusted with flour while making dough, you know why this piece is essential). The dough hook on the Aldi mixer works surprisingly well, too. That might be just enough incentive for any stubborn people out there who refuse to give up their hand mixers. You don't have to pay hundreds of dollars to finally stop kneading your dough by hand.

Another pro of the Aldi stand mixer is that it's lightweight and it takes up far less space than the much bulkier KitchenAid version, which might be appealing to people with limited space in their kitchens.

Just like last fall, Aldi's stand mixer will only be available for a limited time, or at least until it sells out, so if you're looking to take care of Christmas presents early this is your chance. Has your kid expressed an interest in learning how to bake? Maybe your brother is finally ready to learn how to make bread. Or why not just treat yourself? If you're not ready to invest in the KitchenAid mixer, the Aldi version is a perfectly serviceable alternative. It may not last quite as long, but once you've used it to hone your baking skills, you can graduate to the KitchenAid mixer. By then, it will be worth the splurge.

Last year the stand mixers sold out very quickly, so if this is something you're interested in purchasing head to your local Aldi ASAP.
