The New $5 Aldi Freezer Find That Helps Me Get Breakfast on the Table in 1 Minute
Weekday breakfasts remain a challenge in my house. If I get up earlier and forgo my morning workout, I can make breakfast from scratch, feed my son, and then make a mad dash to the car, reminding him to grab his lunch, his homework, and other assorted things he sometimes forgets on our way out the door. I hate missing my workout, and I also dislike getting up any earlier than I already do, so I either make breakfast the night before or search for a ready-made microwaveable solution.
As my nights are usually as pressed for time as my mornings, I don’t make breakfast from scratch as often as I’d like. Easy, microwavable breakfasts are a frequent morning staple in our home. Which is why I was delighted to discover a new breakfast time-saver in the freezer aisle at Aldi: Breakfast Best Protein Cinnamon French Toast Sticks.
What’s So Great About Breakfast Best Protein Cinnamon French Toast Sticks?
Although one of my morning problem-solvers is the Aldi croissant breakfast sandwiches, my son gets bored eating the same breakfast every day, so we sometimes switch it up with Aldi’s French toast sticks.
He needs a lot of protein, and his gymnastics coach asks us parents to push the protein amounts, especially during competition season. So, for us,this new, seasonal find is even better than the original (which are also pretty great, BTW).
At $4.49 per package, it’s a little over a buck each for four easy, weekday breakfasts. The cinnamon and sugar coating adds a bit of sweetness, belying the fact that these babies have 24% the daily value protein for adults. Their texture is soft and chewy, and they get even softer if you douse them with maple syrup, which my son does. The first ingredient is whole-wheat bread, and they contain 14% of daily value fiber per serving to boot.
What’s the Best Way to Serve Protein Cinnamon French Toast Sticks?
The delicious breakfast sticks are ready after a minute of microwaving, and if my son wants a second serving, it doesn’t throw off our tight schedule because they’re ready so quickly. And while he sometimes has the eating habits of a hobbit, the protein in the French toast sticks actually fills him up most mornings so I usually don’t need to make him more. And that means we can get on our way more smoothly, making our dash out the door a little less mad and a lot more pleasant. Thanks, Aldi!
