When your apartment is only 473 square feet, you’re guaranteed to have a tiny kitchen. And that means that you’re going to have to be smart about storage. That’s exactly what Lauren and Mikko realized when they bought their apartment in Finland. And they came up with some great solutions that balance their two aesthetics perfectly.

To keep the kitchen from feeling too spare, the couple tiled this wall with blue patterned tile and added pops of color from their housewares like the orange blender and brightly patterned bowls. The wall is nestled between the pale blue Smeg refrigerator and the sink, effectively hiding it from view when you’re in the living area.

Don’t be fooled by this bright pink piece that looks like wall art; it’s actually the couple’s dining table. The keep it folded flat when not in use, but bring it out for dinner parties or holidays. Not only is it space-saving, but it adds color to the predominantly white apartment.
