High Windows: The Kitchen Clerestory

High Windows: The Kitchen Clerestory

Windows in the kitchen are wonderful for views out, light in, and even for ventilation. Minus the view outside, a clerestory can be a wonderful window type for the kitchen:

It's placed up high in a space, making it perfect for ventilating built-up heat. Also, it lets in light up high, which means any heat gained from the sun will stay up high, not down at floor level where you're working.

It also gives the kitchen a feeling a bit akin to an art studio.

Do you think you'd like a clerestory in the kitchen? We're not sure we could do without a view out, but we love the example shown here.
