This shade of blue is always what comes to mind when we think of April. Maybe it's the April showers (which we're having in New York today) or the fact that spring is here but it's still cool outside. And yet it is a really lovely color for a kitchen—soothing but still upbeat, bold without being in-your-face. It's gentle. Take a look at the full space, below.
The homeowners turned a galley kitchen into this open room by incorporating a storage and laundry area. The husband wanted modern and shiny; the wife preferred more cottage details like painted floors.
This satisfies both. The color is slightly colonial and country, and yet it pairs perfectly with stainless steel. And we love how big the diamonds are on the floor; you usually see patterns much smaller! It makes the room feel more spacious.

How great is the pantry, by the way? A clever use of space under the stairs.
Is this a color you'd like in your kitchen? We'd add some peachy-orange accents for more of this favorite color combination.
