A Bright and Breezy Berlin Kitchen
Imke and Thorsten’s neat, airy kitchen is situated five stories above Prenzlauer Berg’s oldest neighborhood bar in what was formerly East Berlin, and it serves as a hub for an active family of four.
The white vases belonged to Imke’s grandmother, an avid china collector and owner of a store for kitchen goods and housewares, while most of the other furniture is either vintage or IKEA. The kitchen’s steamlined design underscore’s Imke and Thorsten’s belief that less is more. Their best advice?
Try to limit clutter – keep big surfaces tidy. Move furniture around to figure out the best setting. Buy big pieces in neutral colors and add interest with colorful accessories. If you don’t like it cover it up – white cotton does the trick. Have fun – you can always change everything.
