One of the sure signs of fall is that next year’s calendars are starting to appear in the stores. Our favorites are the handmade, hand-pulled calendars in limited editions from artists. Here’s an example of one of our top picks from Pie Bird Press in Albany, California.

We love this calendar for its bold, color-saturated images of fruits and vegetables, each featured in the month that it’s in season. The calendar has a page per month, plus a cover image, and was hand-pulled on an antique letterpress. Pie Bird Press also offers kitchen-themed greeting cards with images of artichokes, puddings, eggs, and pumpkins. Framed up, these would make great art for the kitchen or dining room.

• The Seasonal Produce Calendar is $35 and is shipping this week to The Gardener’s two Bay Area stores (Ferry Plaza Market and 4th Street in Berkeley.)

• You can also purchase it along with Pie Bird Press’ complete greeting card line, online at Felt & Wire Shop. For more information, visit Pie Bird Press.
