50+ Holiday Cookie Recipes (All in One Place)
Holiday season is here, which means it is time for all the cookies. There’s a lot to love about this time of year, but baking dozens of cookies has always been at the top of my list. From cookie swaps to sweet gifts for everyone on my list, it’s been a holiday tradition for as long as I can remember. And part of the fun is choosing which cookies to make.
Whether you’re a purist who likes to stick with the classics, go straight for all things chocolate, have a soft spot for jammy thumbprints, or need a sweet treat that’s vegan or gluten-free, this cookie lineup has something for everyone.
When in doubt, stick with the tried-and-true favorites. I’m a firm believer that you can never go wrong with classics (like gingerbread and Mexican wedding cookies) when it comes to holiday baking.
Cut-Out and Rolled Cookies
If there was ever a perfect time of year to make cut-out cookies, it’s now. Or try your hand at pretty pinwheel cookies.
If you’ve got a chocolate-lover in your circle, you cannot go wrong with one of these sweet, rich treats.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Chocolate chip cookies are a timeless nostalgic favorite that have a permanent place on my cookie tray. Stick with the classic version, or make this the year you branch out and try something new. Gingerbread chocolate chip, anyone?
The simplicity of butter cookies is exactly what makes them such a favorite throughout the holiday season. If you want to give them a little more oomph, a pop of lemon or some festive sprinkles always do the trick.
Jammy Cookies and Thumbprints
Whether you fill them with jam, chocolate, or any other favorite filling, thumbprint cookies (and jam-filled Linzer cookies!) are a timeless holiday favorite.
Peanut Butter Cookies
The best peanut butter cookies all include a little something extra. Double down on classic PB cookies by mixing in chopped peanuts and peanut butter chips, then top them off with a chocolate kiss, or go big with some peanut brittle.
It’s always fun to mix up the cookie plate or gift a tin of cookies with a slightly unexpected twist — like mixing some fresh herbs in your shortbread, giving cookies a savory twist, or swapping nutty tahini for peanut butter.
Why not change things up by baking a thick slab of cookies in a pan? Whether you cut them into generous bars or bite-sized pieces for sharing with a crowd, bar cookies are such a great idea for gifting, cookies plates, and office parties.
No gluten? No problem! This is my favorite lineup for a holiday cookie plate that everyone will remember.
Vegan or not, what you really need to know is that these are totally delicious treats that will be loved by everyone.
