So you cooked up a big batch of ground meat for dinner, and now you’re wondering what to do with the leftovers. Luckily ground meat is a helpful ingredient to have around; it’s versatile and filling enough to turn a side dish or salad into a meal. If you’ve got some extra ground meat on your hands, here are five smart ways to use it up throughout the week.

1. Stuffed into squash.

Stuffed squash is a favorite, whether you’re still trying to make the most of zucchini and summer squash, or you’ve moved on to fall favorites, like delicata and acorn squash. Mix together your favorite stuffing and add ground beef for a more filling meal.

2. Served over a baked potato.

This is an easy way to turn a baked potato in a meal-worthy creation. On its own, it’s a good side dish, but not substantial enough for lunch or dinner. Add some ground meat, and perhaps some chopped veggies, and you’ve got something a lot more filling to keep you satisfied.

3. Tucked into tacos or burritos.

Since the meat is already cooked, the heavy lifting for these mealtime favorites is already done. Toss the meat with some seasoning and spices as you reheat, and then fill and wrap the tortillas with all your favorite toppings.

4. Served with pasta.

Whether you make an abbreviated version of homemade bolognese or simply mix the cooked meat straight into your favorite sauce, this hearty topping is a seriously comforting and satisfying way to finish off your plate of pasta.

5. Mixed into a frittata.

There are few things that can’t be folded into this satisfying egg dish. And since the meat is already cooked, you’re one step ahead of the game.
