You’re probably already familiar with topping frozen corn with the trio of soft butter, salt, and black pepper, but this version reaches into the spice cabinet to take it one step further.

Why This 5-Minute Side Deserves a Spot on Your Table

Go beyond the familiar bowl of corn by tossing in cracked black pepper for small crunchy bursts of heat and get a subtle, earthy bitterness from ground turmeric. It’s a small change from the side dish you’re used to and an easy way to keep dinner interesting.

How to Make It

Microwave a bag of frozen corn, according to the package instructions, until cooked through. Stir in 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 to 2 teaspoons of ground turmeric, and a few grinds of cracked black pepper. Return to the microwave, and heat through to melt the butter. Stir once more to combine the butter and top with more cracked black pepper.
