I enjoy eating meat as much as the next person, except when it comes to ground meat. I have a weird textural issue with ground meat and shy away from it except for the occasional (gasp) lean ground turkey. Therefor, I have to get creative when it comes to an occasional burger craving.

During summer months my fiance and I grill as much as possible. He’s a huge burger lover and while I typically grill a piece of chicken when he eats burgers and hot dogs I do often crave a really delicious meatless burger. Sure, I’ve tried the store bought variety but they simply do not even come close to comparing to a homemade meatless burger.

Black bean burgers are a staple in the vegetarian world because you can always count on them to turn out the same each time. They’re filling, delicious and the texture isn’t off putting like many meatless burgers can be. If you’re looking to branch out from the ordinary, I’d recommend trying the Baked Eggplant Burger from The Tolerant Vegan. It sounds so tasty even though it’s not exactly what you’d think to replace ground meat with!
