Ok, fine, it’s not exactly tomato season (yet), but this past weekend amidst all that grilling and light beer and summer-y things, I really wanted a Caprese salad. These four bloggers have me thinking of all the ways to make that classic tomato, mozzarella and basil combination this summer.

From my research around Pinterest and Foodgawker, it looks like the easiest way to transform a simple caprese salad is by adding an interesting carb into the mix like pasta, tortilla chips, and pastry dough (for a tart).
