The best way to tackle dinner before trick-or-treating with your little ones on Halloween is to lean on your slow cooker. Since you don't have much time to spend in the kitchen, stick with recipes that can cook all day or even in advance, so there's little to do before chowing down. Here are 10 slow cooker recipes for a wholesome dinner before you head out for trick-or-treating.

1. Slow Cooker Salsa Pulled Chicken

This weeknight-friendly meal is as simple as combining your favorite salsa and lean chicken breast in the slow cooker, and cooking until tender. Stuff the saucy, shredded meat into tacos or quesadillas, or serve atop grain bowls or a hearty dinner salad.

2. Slow Cooker Vegan Lentil Chili

Load up your slow cooker with lentils, beans, and vegetables in the morning and when you get home from work dinner will be done and waiting for you. Make this meal even easier by starting with pre-cut butternut squash.

3. Slow Cooker Maple-Mustard Pulled Pork

Throw all these ingredients in the slow cooker in the morning so all that's left to do is shred the meat and stuff it into a pillowy roll before dinner.

6. Slow Cooker Honey Teriyaki Chicken

Skip the takeout teriyaki and turn to your slow cooker for an easy dinner instead. Since this recipe doesn't cook all day, I like taking advantage of its make-ahead potential by making the chicken and sauce the night before, then just reheating.
