10 Thoughtful DIY Wedding Favors That Are Actually Easy to Make

When I first started planning my wedding four years ago, I imagined sending my guests home with handmade macarons dusted with different shades of pink and green ombré metallic food coloring.

Fast-forward six months to when I had a breakdown on the corner of 5th and 57th streets regarding font for the program, and any DIY dreams went out the window. I went the prepackaged gift route and it was fine. However, in retrospect, I do wish I had DIY'd one of these adorable wedding favors for our guests instead of going the store-bought route. They're not only delicious, but they're also actually feasible to make. Forget throwing rice — people will be throwing kisses if they get to take any of these home.

1. Spiced Nuts

You can make these awesome black salt and pepper roasted cashews well in advance of your wedding. They're a thoughtful and delicious snack to munch on that your guests will actually want to eat.

2. Citrus Sugar

You only need three ingredients for this simple DIY wedding favor: sugar, lime zest, and lemon zest. Yes, you'll need to zest quite a few lemons and limes for this (I might recommend wearing gloves for this), but it's worth the time spent. It's an inexpensive gift that's perfect for cocktails and baking.

This might take a little time to assemble, but the ingredients are easily purchased and the result is too delicious to resist.

4. Infused Olive Oil

Infused olive oil is elegant, useful, and not overly complicated to prepare. Plus, every time your guests make themselves a late-night pasta snack, they'll remember your fantastic nuptials. Just make sure the gift is small enough to get by TSA for out-of-town guests.

5. Instant Mac and Cheese Kit

This is pretty much the best idea for a wedding favor in my opinion. All you need are shells, powdered cheese, a jar to hold it all in, and some directions on how to make it. It's the perfect late-night snack for your guests.

6. Homemade Granola

Granola is an excellent wedding favor because it can be made in bulk, the ingredients are inexpensive (for the most part), and it's absolutely delicious. This cherry pistachio granola is great by itself or in a morning bowl of yogurt.

After all that dancing and drinking, this smoky candied popcorn wedding favor will be a welcome gift.

This one is as easy as going to the farmers market for honey, picking up some cute jars from the craft store, and then pouring and labeling. Be sure to use a funnel for easy transferring of the honey.

10. DIY Mini Booze Bottles

Instead of just buying mini bottles of vodka and putting everyone's name on them, make your own nips. This simple infusion uses bourbon, apples, and cinnamon. Funnel them into small bottles to give to guests.
