Did you watch the exciting conclusion to the World Cup yesterday afternoon? Did you cheer for Spain? If so, then you might want to check out this luscious slideshow of Spanish desserts at the Australian Gourmet Traveller. They go way past flan!
The 14 featured recipes do include flan, but it involves raisins, figs, and orange caramel. The list also features the sweet meringue suspiros and the nougat turrón, as well as the alarmingly-delicious cookies alfajores, and the crisp crescents of fried pastries with honey.
We are suddenly inspired to bake again, despite the heat!

Boo...I wish you were showing dutch desserts...sigh..
Here in Spain we're still drowning in a sea of beer and sangria! CAMPEONES! :D :D
(btw, torrone is not Spanish. The word is turrón.)
Thanks! Fixed.
Yes I did watch the finale!! What a long drawn out something it was eh! We opted for a more boozy option of Chocolate Guinness cake..hehe - it was great when paired with shandys!

I wish we were celebrating Dutch desserts, too, but I'd take polvorones or tocino del cielo over hagelslag and muisjes any day of the week.
