Word of Mouth: Bölleflade

Pin it button big

Bölleflade n. Swiss onion tart with a flaky crust and caramelized onions.

This recipe for Bölleflade comes from a feature in Saveur that explored the food culture of a little town in West Virginia called Helvetia. It was settled by Swiss immigrants who have kept much of their cultural heritage, marrying Swiss foods and tastes with Southern cooking.

We have no idea how to pronounce this (any tips from German speakers?) but we think it sounds delicious, however you say it.
