The first thing I thought when I saw this "now you see it, now you don't" kitchen in Germany is how nice it'd be to have the ability to hide a messy post-dinner kitchen with the press of a button, especially if you live in a studio apartment. I don't think that was their primary design consideration, but still. See more photos below:

The Hidden Kitchen by Warendorf measures five metres long and opens, garage door-style, to reveal a "working space with storage areas, shelving, extractor fan and integrated lighting." You can't really see the kitchen, so it's hard to know if it'd be practical to cook in. My guess is they didn't have a serious cook in mind when they designed this, but it still caught our attention!

Well, first of all, there's no sink or dishwasher. And there's very little prep space. This isn't a kitchen for a person who cooks.
there is a sink :) notice the tap?
My guess is that the sink is to the left of the stovetop -- that bent thingy that hovers over the counter could be a modern-looking water spout. The oven and dishwasher are probably behind the lower doors. I'd guess that the refrigerator/freezer is behind the tall doors on the left or right.
I am pleased to see that there appears to be space under all the cabinets for feet -- otherwise it would be back-breaking to have to stoop all the time when working at the counters.
The design is not my cup of tea, but it does look beautiful!
Tap/water spout isn't the same as an actual sink. Look at the first photo; the counter is smooth.
Okay, maybe I'm blind and the sink is white. I'm trying to find more photos because it really does look totally smooth to me.
If you go to the size, and then click on zoom view, you can see the sink. It is white and matches the counter.
duh, site. not size.
sandra_margarete and shipwrecks are right, there is a sink, it just matches the counter and isn't obvious in the smaller photos.
Not my cup of tea plus that hinged door looks awkward. Anyway, I don't see why a kitchen (in an apartment, studio or not) has to be hidden.
"Whoa," not "woah." :)
Very, very sleek. Nice contrast with old walls. However, it seems to me the kitchen is the room that is the most fun to be in- why neuter it?
Gorgeous. Great for loft apartments or other units where the kitchen is not a separate room.
I agree with you Pi
If you wanted to include a small "kitchenette" style unit in a guest suite or as we would like a small kitchette in our dream master suite this would be a great idea on a smaller scale.
The other place something like this would work would be in a office enviroment to hide food prep space for meetings.
My only problem would be one of height, as I am taller than average I would be always be hitting my head if the "doors" weren't able to be pushed high enough.
Love the concept though
I once catered in a house with a kitchen in the center of the house that was actually a 6' closet!! Not the best place to cater a party for 60 out of but we managed to do it. When they called back to do it again I very politely declined--never again.
