Mary is away on a study trip to France this week and next, so we're throwing the floor open to all of you. What have you been drinking lately, and do you have any budget bottles to recommend? Here's a look at some of the wines knocking around my own kitchen...
All of these wines are from Trader Joe's, but most should be available elsewhere too. We've been drinking a lot of Spanish wine, due in part to Mary's encouragement
to try more unknown wines from Spain.
• 2007 Epicuro Vermentino Lazio White Wine - A table wine from TJ's promotional endcap. For $7 it seemed worth a try. Haven't opened it yet, however.
• Espiral Vinho Verde - Slightly fizzy white wine; extremely refreshing and easy to drink. It's great with spicy food, and it's a staple in the summer. At $4.99 it's a great bargain, too.
• Santa Rita 120 Cabernet Sauvignon - Mary recommended this inexpensive Cab in this post. It has been a great buy and benefits from opening up a few hours before drinking. It was $7.99 at TJ's, but it's sometimes as low as $5 and as high as $10.
• Albero Spanish Red Wine, 2006 Tempranillo Barrica - This is another inexpensive gamble from Spain. $7.99
What are you drinking, and do you have any good recommendations for us?
