Q: For years I have been looking for the short, narrow, juice-glass type wine glasses often used in old school Italian restaurants. My brother loves them and has been asking for them for at least a decade (they are a great space saver in tight city apartments). He's recently engaged, and I am on a hunt for these glasses.
Does anyone have an idea of what I'm looking for and/or where I might find them?

Editor: Jeni, are these close to what you're looking for? If so, they're currently on sale at Crate and Barrel. Also check out the Picardie glasses also linked below.

Fish's Eddy offers the narrow wine glasses I think you're referring to. I have a set and love them!

I second Fish's Eddy, Lauren you beat me to it!!
They are sure to have it.
IKEA has some great little juice glasses. They aren't exactly like the Italian wine glasses you're talking about, but the work great in a pinch and are very inexpensive: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10015124/.
Crate & Barrel used to have "cafe glasses" that I use for wine all the time. Not sure if they still make them, but it's worth a try.
I have the Duralex version on the above pictured glasses. I love them! I carted them back with me from a trip to Europe many years ago. They are indestructible. Here you go: http://www.duralexusa.com/Amalfi-Tumbler-7-ounce-Set-of-4-plu511550C12-4.html
I have the Sur la table version--because they have a halfway line with the word Ottimisto on top and Pessimisto on the bottom. Silly, but they make me happy.
You might try a restaurant supply for the glasses you are interested in.
There's a french company that makes those, it's called Duralex. But you can find them in the US. Check at http://www.duralexusa.com/Picardie-Tumblers-cat1.html :)
I was gonna say Fish's Eddy, but you beat me to it. They have the best glassware!
I, too, have the Duralex Picardie Tumblers. We have 4 different sizes, and I use the 8.25 oz ones for red wine almost nightly. We got them for our wedding, but I think they were from Williams Sonoma. I also use them as rocks glasses, and I wouldn't buy anything else if I ever find myself needing more.
They are the Duralex. You can get them at a lot of places in the USA, or on the web. I've been to Italy and France and they are widely used everywhere. There are two basic shapes and an assortment of sizes. I've gotten most of mine in thrift stores, and now I've got a whole collection. They LAST too. Very heavy duty glassware.
My mom just purchased a set of the Duralex glasses in three different sizes from Costco. In fact I'm having some wine from one right now. Very simple and classic design.
