Whether or not you agree that doughnuts might be the new cupcake, you have to admit that these delicious doughnut recipes cropping up all over the place are mighty tempting! So tempting, in fact, that this might be what finally gets us to try deep frying at home. Just take a look at these recipes!
1. Glazed Doughnuts from the Pioneer Woman - Simple glazed donuts are always a favorite, and this is a good basic recipe to start with.
2. Apple Cider Doughnuts from Smitten Kitchen - As far as we're concerned, apple cider donuts are a year-round event!
3. Cinnamon Honey Doughnuts with Raspberry Jam from Martha Stewart - One or three of these would go so well with our morning cup of chai, don't you think?
4. Meyer Lemon and Sour Cream Donuts from Tartelette - Perfect for those of us who don't like super sweet pastries.
5. Nancy Silverton's Buttermilk Cake Doughnuts from Serious Eats - Call them old-fashioned or classic, they're still just as delicious to us.
6. Coffee-Glazed Doughnuts from Epicurious - Why not have our coffee and eat it too?
What kind of doughnut are you in the mood for this weekend?

Martha Concrete Lam...

I love you guys. ;)
Meyer Lemon Doughnuts! Oh my yes.
you are freakin killing me with the dount posts! My thighs are begging you to stop doing this.
Ditto! I'm craving sugar, between the doughnuts and the pies...
Yes, please!
Especially cake donuts...a special weakness when they're done right and super fresh. My favorite donut shop (World's Best Donuts in Grand Marais, MN) is an 8-hour drive away and closed in the winter. I guess I better get over my fear of frying and start making some at home.
Oh, and can we get rid of this annoying hair styler spam commenter/ad that's on every post right now?!
I made those apple cider doughnuts back in the fall. I made a glaze for half and dipped the other half in cinnamon and sugar. They were TO DIE FOR!!!!!
Does anybody have any idea how to make a shape of doughnut that would turn itself over in the frying oil?
Something like that is mentioned in the Little House on the Prairie books, but I've never been able to figure out the shape of a doughnut that predates our circle with a hole in the middle.
Emmilee,
My mom used to make a donut in the same style Almanzo Wilder's mother made them in the book Farmer Boy. They were twisted in a cylindrical shape (like a mini challah bread). You can get the recipe and cooking method in the Little House on the Prairie Cookbook.

How about a recipe for an old fashioned chocolate cake doughnut? My weakness... sugar glazed chocolate cake crullers from Dunkin' with an awesome cup of coffee. Yum!
I mentioned this in the other post too, but since I'm late to the commenting party and some people might see this post but not the other one in the future, I'll say it again.
Lara Ferroni is coming out with a doughnut cookbook this fall! I'm excited. There aren't a lot of doughnut cookbooks out there like there are cupcake cookbooks.
