Q: I made my first batch of vanilla extract using 750 ml of some very decent vodka and 15 or so slit vanilla beans. It steeped for eight weeks and today I tasted it. It definitely has vanilla flavor, but the more predominant flavor is bitterness and alcohol.
I realize I may simply be accustomed to store-bought vanilla (though I stay away from non-"pure" vanilla extract) and have a palate that expects that taste, but I'm disappointed with my batch. Is there anything that can at least remove the bitterness? Thanks.

Editor: Hmm... going by our own tutorial for homemade vanilla extract, it sounds like you've done everything just fine. Here's the tutorial for reference:
Readers, any ideas on this one?
