Twitter is a free micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates of up to 140 characters in length. Most updates come from mobile phones, which makes Twitter an useful service for blogging "on the fly." Many companies' marketing teams are embracing social networking in order to reach a wider audience, and Whole Foods is one such company.
Where most companies are using Twitter to simply make announcements, Whole Foods are using Twitter to actually interact with their customers; subscribers can request new Whole Foods locations, make inventory suggestions, request refunds, and more. This is taking customer service to a completely new level, and we like it. No more standing in line or being on hold on the phone - simply type a few characters on your cell phone and send. Nice!
