Road Trip Food Mishaps: What Car Trip Snack Idea Was a Total Bust?

Pin it button big

Has this ever happened to you? You're walking through the grocery store pre-road trip and delicious-looking things keep jumping into your cart. Maybe it's the chocolate bar that would later melt in the car seat, or those crackers that made a horrible crumbly mess, or possibly the garlic bagels that made your car interior smell like an old Italian kitchen (great in Italy, not so much anywhere else). Do you have a road trip food mishap? Share your disaster and hear my own below!

Over the years I've had a few fails when it comes to road trip food. When I was younger my brother fell asleep with a Hershey's bar in his hand and it ended up everywhere — including me when I awoke from my own nap. Awesome.

Later on in life I had a run-in with a lox bagel that went "missing" among the other bags and travel items. It was found later... by smell, not by sight. Fishy! There have also been spilled crackers, a dog that stole my breakfast sandwich and yacked it back up (so gross), and spilled drinks galore. Obviously I'm the best road trip companion EVER.

Did you have a snack go bad? Something you were excited to have in the car with your family or just on your own? Please tell me I'm not the only one with a snacks list gone bad list! Share your own below.
