Summer is just about here, easing in with warmth, sunshine, and fresh sweet fruit. While I eat frozen strawberries and over-wintered apples year-round, I look forward so much to this time of year, when raspberries are sweet and strawberries are tiny and bright. I eat a lot of plain fresh fruit, although I also love to muddle it into drinks, like the raspberry limeade cooler pictured above. What about you?
What's your favorite summer fruit, and what's your favorite way to enjoy it? Strawberry pie? Peach cobbler? Slices of early watermelon, sweet and juicy?
Tell us what fruit you look forward to in the summer, and how you most like to enjoy it.

As often as I love to try a new recipe to incorporate the fruit into a "dish' (main, side or otherwise), I always come back to my favorite way of eating summer fruit and that is out of hand. Nothing compares to enjoying a juicy peach or nectarine or some sweet tart cherries unadulterated.
Hard to pick a favorite for sure, but I just tried olallieberries for the first time and they are spectacular. I ate them with just a dash of cream. Wild Mara des Bois strawberries are also divine! YUM. The perfect nectarine might be my favorite, but the good ones can be hard to find! Oh and then there is a juicy blueberry. haha. Obviously can't choose :)
Sorbets, hands down, for the healthy option. But I also love raspberry fool far more than I should. Equal parts heavy cream, raspberries and sugar whipped together until smooth. Perfect with a chocolate mousse.
Summer local fruits makes me happy. Especially the kinds that are so refreshing, sweet, and delicious you don't have to do a thing to them... But I also loved making (and eating) these strawberries muffins this weekend. http://www.loveumadly.com/2012/06/strawberry-muffins/
Perfectly ripe cherries - right out of hand!
mango margaritas - delicious and refreshing!
Really cold watermelon with lime and sea salt.
