We can all rattle off a list of our essential tools in the kitchen: sharp chef's knife, cast iron skillet, maybe a blender or mixer. But somewhere in that list of favorite tools, you probably have just one or two offbeat, idiosyncratic picks that set your favorites apart from mine, and everyone else's.
We've shared some of our favorite unexpected and even uncool favorites. Here's a look back at them and a question: what's the weirdest or most unexpected kitchen tool you've ever fallen in love with?

As you can see from our list of offbeat favorites above, it's a mix between slightly goofy commercial products, old-fashioned things with fresh uses, and just plain weird stuff (dental floss?).
Personally I confess to a love for a couple of unitaskers, like my beloved nutmeg grater. I also have a rather dorky folding stool that is absolutely essential in my short-person life.
What about you? Do you have some battered old garlic press, or some quirky thing you just can't live without, even though it's not showing up on any best-of lists? Do share — maybe we'll all find something new to try.
