Q: I was just wondering where and when it became a good idea to store coffee in the freezer? My father and my grandparents practice this habit and it is the one thing I do not look forward to when I visit. Was it an advertisement put out by a coffee company at some point?
I know it isn't necessary, as I store my ground coffee in an airtight container on the counter or in the cupboard. So why the freezer? I find it destroys flavour and the joy of waking up to a fresh pot.
