What's the Best Way To Make Really Big Ice Cubes?

Good Questions

Q: My boyfriend and I went to a bar recently where they serve excellent old timey drinks (whiskey and gin mostly). They have these amazing large perfect cube ice cubes. I would love to replicate them, but the only ice cube trays I can find are these Tovolo silicon trays. The reviews say that they get smelly really fast.

Do you know of any hard plastic perfect cube ice cube trays?

Editor: Diana, we'll turn this hunt over to the readers, but we also wanted to give you a post from the archives. One thing to consider is making a big flat tray of ice, then chopping it up, as Nora suggests in this post. That may not give you perfect cubes, but you can control the size of the block.
