TW Salt Mill by Wil...

We just picked our first strawberries of the season here in New Jersey; a little early but they were delicious. Anyone else from NJ/NYC that has picked anything as of yet?
The strawberries are coming in so fact from the backyard garden I had to make a homemade strawberry-bourbon milkshake the other night with the over-rip strawberries. It was difficult, but some had to take the hit.
My Brooklyn farmers market has had strawberries for the last couple of weeks--I think the farm is from NJ? I was surprised to see them so early. Could they have been from a greenhouse? (They weren't even that expensive, which surprised me too...)
Thank you for this. The recipes I see online (here and elsewhere) or in this month's magazines make me feel like I should be tripping over crates of strawberries and rhubarb right now, but we've barely got US-grown asparagus here in Portland. Sometimes I wonder if I'm shopping at the right places, but this list helps. I'd love to see an updated version every two weeks.
don't forget about mulberries! Here in Ohio, they're usually not ripe for another month, but thanks to a mild/warm spring our backyard tree is already ripening.
