Happy weekend, everybody! We hope you've been inspired to toss a pizza into the oven after Pizza Week, or to bake up something else warm and delicious this weekend. Do you have pizza plans? Or are you working on other autumn-appropriate recipes, like soup? (You'll see a lot of soups and stews here next week!) Do tell us all what's cooking in your kitchen this weekend — we're always so inspired by your kitchen plans.

Monterey Pitcher fr...

Leek and butternut squash risotto tomorrow and a big pot of homemade red sauce on Sunday.
Homemade caramel pudding tonight (Smitten Kitchen), Power Waffles tomorrow morning (101 cookbooks), then some big servings of Spanakopita (Cook's' Illustrated) and a side of cumin-roasted cauliflower for Sunday dinner!
In a few weeks, starts a death-race until Christmas for me. Lots and lots of O.T. @ work, and all the holiday stuff mixed in. I plan on prepping a LOT of food to freeze this weekend. Making chicken broth, freezing the broth and the chicken. Roasting a few sugar pumpkins, freezing that. Vacuum sealing some pecans to use for holiday baking. There's more, but I won't bore you. :-)
I might also make some caramel pudding, because after reading babygrace's post, that just sounds plain awesome right now.
Can't wait for Soup week! I'm planning on jumping the gun on that one--I've got my own recipe for Sweet Potato Soup, and maybe some good old-fashioned chicken noodle, which should take me through next week. Nothing like a hot, easy lunch for a busy teacher!
Hard to get into soup when it's 90 degrees :( Headin to the Cracker Barrel for my bday dinner with the family, yummmmy. And tomorrow is the local town festival so we'll be snacking on some goodies there.
A bit too toasty for soups & stews here too, but already got a list going for *soon* so lookin forward to next week. (@ becster.henrich I NEED that sweet potato soup recipe!) Home alone this weekend & takin a kitchen break - sorta - to do some deep fall cleaning. Just grabbed two 3# bags of onions, bogo, at the market. They got a date with the crockpot to be transformed into yummy caramelized goodness for all those soups & stews to come later. My house'll be smelling like heaven by the end of the day.
Just spotted some leftover wheat tortillas in the fridge so I'm thinkin cheater pizza. Ah, just decided...Margherita tortilla pizzas with the last of the tomatoes still clingin to the vine & fresh herbs from the garden. Then maybe a bruschetta 'r 2 to finish off that lingering loaf & some other bits of things lurking in my fridge. Done and done.
I think I MIGHT make a pizza, indeed. I haven't done that in a long time. I've got some bacon and broccoli rabe, and that makes an insanely delicious combo.
One of my all time favorites Olive Oil Pound Cake has just been baked fresh from the oven.
I made Cambria's garlicky kale pizza the other day, and it was so good I'm making it again today! http://the-cooking-of-joy.blogspot.com/2012/10/crispy-kale-pizza.html

I sincerely hope I make it to the gym today!
It's finally time to make jam this weekend, I'm so excited! Fall was unexpectedly busy, so I had to freeze all of my strawberries, rhubarb, and peaches, and wait until now to defrost them. Today, my aunt is coming over and we'll make four batches of jam together. Debating whether or not to add vanilla to the peach jam . . . could be delicious, but also maybe cloyingly sweet . . .
It's shaping up to be a chilly weekend, so I've been cooking some warming, comforting food. Last night I made a curry with fried tofu, vegetables and coconut milk over brown jasmine rice, and tonight I plan to make a warm salad with quinoa, roasted vegetables (Brussels sprouts, squash, and Romanesco cauliflower), cranberries and pecans. Kashmiri paneer curry is the plan for tomorrow, with chapati or parathas.
@discerning, here's the link to my (extremely) amateur blog and recipe!

Roasted chicken last night with many vegetables accompanying it, and right now my sweet man is preparing a pistachio cake with lemon frosting. Really, how did I deserve this? :-)
After a week long vaca in Hawaii, I am finally getting into the autumn spirit. Last night was homemade pizza (a Friday night standard in our house) with mushroms, prosciutto and red peppers. Tonight will be cassoulet with duck confit and I'll be prepping some no-knead pumpkin rolls for tomorrow's breakfast.
Mulled Cider simmering on the stove and a Spaghetti Squash baking right now. Thinking of making a sausage breakfast casserole for tomorrow.
tortilla soup in the crockpot, pumpkin spiced french toast tomorrow morning. I'm making orange and cranberry drop cookies tomorrow and am dreaming of a sausage and lentil stew.
Thanks, Rebecca! Sounds delish, adding it to my list. Lots of wisdom on that "(extremely) amateur blog " btw. And I only took a quick peek...I'll be back, bookmarked it. Thanks again.
Made breakfast pizza with eggs on on Saturday morning using some wholemeal dough and red sauce that I whipped up while dinner was cooking on Friday night in a rare fit of productivity. That filled us up until dinner, which was fast food after the cinema. Today will be chicken and broccoli risotto for dinner and croque monsieur for lunch. I usually bake a cake at the weekend for lunch boxes through the week, but the heavy fruit cake I made last week has lasted brilliantly.
