Happy weekend everyone! What are your plans for your kitchen and your table this weekend? Diving into a good book, tea in hand? A Sunday supper with friends? I'm hitting the kitchen hard, with some serious recipe development for a new project we're excited to tell you about next week. I'm looking forward to throwing some vegetables in the oven, and exploring some new ingredients. What about you? What's cooking this weekend?

Making some delicious peanut butter chocolate chips cookies and my mom's famous spaghetti sauce for the kids. In that order ;)
Tomorrow is my birthday (eeek!) but I have to work, so I'm planning an indoor picnic on Sunday with grilled cheese sandwiches, from-scratch campbell's-like tomato soup, creamy pinto bean soup, napa cabbage salad, and some kind of cake.
Can't wait to be cuddled on the floor with blankets, pillows, and down comforters with good food, a roaring fire, and some of my favorite people!
Tonight was shredded beef soft tacos. Tomorrow night will be some easy quesadillas. Sunday will be roasted chicken and risottto. Might whip up some Groundhog Cookies for next weekend too!
OMG Peanut Butter and Oats. That used to be a big guilt pleasure of mine when I was in highschool- I'd come home and mix up a little dish of peanut butter, raw oatmeal, and cinnamon sugar to eat while watching The Kids in the Hall.
No cooking plans for this weekend! Tomorrow I have a family birthday dinner party and then a friend birthday party/house show. Sunday I expect to spend mostly curled up in bed sleeping it off. Ha.
Happy Birthday VintageJenta!
I will be making this

Thou I will be making the roux in the same pan that I brown the meat in-for extra flavor. Plus, not using frozen veggie mix-maybe I'll add more carrots and celery.
The Kitchn's braised French onion chicken, dijon brussels sprouts, and some sort of winter citrus and arugula salad. And I just finished making a carrot bread (like zucchini bread, but with carrots).
I made slow cooker lemon pepper pork chops last night, with a side of roasted garlic and cauliflower.
Definitely a big hit with the fiancee :)
Currently waiting for Blueberry Ricotta Custard Cake from the Standard Baking Co Pastries book (a belated holiday gift) to cool. Standard is a lovely Portland, Me bakery, and their book is inspiring and approachable - I think of their goodies as homey American French pastries.
This weekend is full of warming foods -- chicken caccitore and a butternut squash soup with basil and white beans. Plus Myrtle Allen's homemade brown bread.
No real time to spend in the kitchen this weekend as I'll be working on my big Cure project. I planned ahead by roasting a large tray of veggies - brussel sprouts, turnips, carrots, onions, squash, radishes, mushrooms. Tossed the lot of it in the fridge for a few quick healthy meals in an atempt not to get sidetracked. We'll see how that works..
Last night I made wild mushroom and barley soup with turkey sausage and fennel salad. Soup was just right with the bitterly cold weather here in Boston. We'll have takeout tonight after work then poached eggs with truffle salt, leftover turkey sausage and roasted tomatoes for breakfast on Sunday.
I'll be roasting up a chicken...and this will happen :)

I made squash with tahini sauce and lamb merguez last night, today I'm just baking a loaf of rye bread before going out to dinner, and tomorrow we'll be having fresh bread and eggs for brunch and a broccoli and gorgonzola pie for dinner.
This weekend is my mom's birthday, so we're making the "Old-Fashioned" Lemon Cake from the book, "The High Plains Sifter".
As ever, I have to work on the weekend. But I made some pumpkin bagels earlier in the week, and I made a batch of cinnamon on Friday to get my boys through the weekend while I'm not home. They came out so well!!

And tonight we ate some good leftovers...collard, pecan and roasted mushroom pie with a smoky spicy crust...

I have big plans for tomorrow night though, if I get home early enough. I'll let you know how it goes...
Just had girls night with a couple of friends. We had swordfish, eggplant caponata, farro salad with spinach and balsamic onions, and some roasted brussels sprouts for dinner. For dessert I did prosecco poached pears with mascarpone cream. An indulgent and yet not overly heavy meal, inspired by what looked good at the market this morning. yum yum!!
I made a brunch egg casserole with Mexican flavors.
Best makes of this weekend? Your recommended overnight cinnamon rolls and your excellent dairy-free chowder. Both hits!
