Bacsac Bacsquare 04...

Baked Ziti w/Spinach and Gorgonzola from the Complete Italian Vegetarian Cookbook!
I'm roasting a big ol' lamb shank in the oven as we speak. Marinated with anchovies, dijon mustard, rosemary, red wine, garlic, and black pepper, on a bed of turnips, carrots, celery, onions, and mushrooms.
I just put an experiment in the oven: A layered casserole with onions, sardines in tomato sauce, and potatoes. Plus cheese, spices, lemon, and a few eggs. I'm hoping it tastes good!
Vegan Pot Pie from this blog! I made it a couple weeks ago and it was so awesome I had to make it again!
Having friends over Saturday and Sunday this weekend--I'm making Malaysian chicken curry tomorrow w/ a few vegetable dishes. We'll have steak tacos on Sunday--skirt steak, homemade corn tortillas, beans, and lots of garnishes.
No idea, although that baked egg looks pretty good. For dinner tonight I went the lazy but delicious route--a big glass of red wine, and two slices of a fantastic bread from the When Pigs Fly bakery store in Somerville, MA, with some charcuterie from Dave's Fresh Pasta, also in Somerville. Lucky to work in that town!
Charlotte, I'm right around the corner from you, in nearby Medford!
Need to make something in advance for next week. Maybe a nice pot roast with potatoes and veg. An eggnog coffee cake with the remainder of the eggnog. And some ham enchiladas for next week's lunches.
Having just finished my list of what I want to get done... Alsatian onion tart, pickled green beans, piroshki, and a cookie to be named later. Also maybe Kentucky hot browns and pralines if I'm overcome with domesticity.
eggs! for one!
tonite, nachos.
tomorrow, bresse chicken.
Something with pears. I bought four pounds of bosc pears yesterday (they were $0.79/pound!) and I still have some anjou pears slowly getting overripe in the fridge.
Ditto oranges, apples, and bananas. Lol. A surfeit of fruit! Also got a lot of celery - maybe an apple celery salad? Needing to eat more fresh things - been eating lots of carbs lately.
I made oatmeal raisin cookies yesterday. Not much other cooking going on this weekend. Houseguests and pizza out tonight. Perhaps tomorrow morning I will make muffins.
Oatmeal bread. Almond granola. I haven't decided what we're having for Saturday night dinner except sweet potato fries dredged in cornstarch and sesame seeds; I have both sweet potatoes and a craving. Or maybe instead of fries, I'll make peanut noodle salad with plenty of broccoli, asparagus, and carrots, topped with sesame-fried sweet potato chunks. Mmm, that sounds good.
I'm making white bean & sausage cassorole-the recipe is in Faith's cassarole book. Also baking..something. I haven't decided yet.
Any time I bake eggs I have a heck of a time cleaning up the container I cook them in. Whether I grease with butter, oil or Pam. I soak them, still bad bits left. I don't really want to use SOS pads, but I might.... Any suggestions?
Margi-Invest in one of the plastic pot scrapers from a place like Crate And Barrel for a buck or two. I use mine religiously and throw it in the utensil holder in the dishwasher when it needs to be sanitized. It's a lifesaver for foods that get stuck-on no matter how you prep the pan or dish.
i just made really quick n cheap "patriotic cookies" by utilizing ready-made v-day cookie dough:

Using Indian spices - chicken thighs, rice, a side of lentils with peppers, and cauliflower. My beloved will prepare a galette using berries frozen from last summer.
Currently looking for a black-bean brownie recipe...if I find one then that's what I'm cooking!
I didn't cook, but my husband did, and made whole rainbow trout stuffed with rice, corn, onion, parsley, baked with sea salt for 30 minutes and served with spinach. Tomorrow is prep for the week day--maybe some lentils, hard-boiled eggs, and smoothies to throw in the freezer.
Tried a new recipe for Chicken Makhani tonight--good, but could use some tweaking. We'll have that plus salad for lunches this week. I'm making vegetable stock now and have some multigrain bread dough rising. Tomorrow, we'll have our usual full English breakfast, then I'm thinking I might thaw some of my lovely roasted tomato sauce from last summer to have with tortellini. I'm slowly cleaning out the freezer in anticipation of some fresh veg soon. Spring HAS to be just around the corner, right?
Today I made pasta, broccoli, carrots and peanut sauce - if I want that to last until tomorrow I guess I'll have to lick the pot (that's all that's left!).
I have a houseguest who's just toddled off to sleep so tomorrow, from their request, it's homemade quick breakfast rolls using a package of frozen puff pastry, cinnamon sugar, dried cherries and almonds or hazelnuts (just assembled, sliced, baked, and topped with a quick homemade frosting of confectioner's sugar, cherry juice & vanilla).
