I made Zucchini Parmesan this past weekend and it was SO good! Even the boyfriend who hates vegetables indulged on this one. http://missamyscerra.blogspot.com/2010/07/zucchini-parmesean.html
Thanks for the recipes! :)
I have a pile of squash blossoms to cook up.
Strawberries, summer squash, and a trip to the farmer's market tomorrow morning.
Your photo made me think of the scrumptious ratatouille that I just made. All of the ingredients are in season right now.

Pizza tonight (the 90 degree day never surfaced- it's 72 & raining) using roasted veggies & beets, chard & goat cheese bundles. Pancakes for breakfast tomorrow & Sunday is tbd. I will keep checking back on this post to get inspiration from everyone!
Penne w/Beets (from my garden), Gorgonzola and Toasted Walnuts from the Union Square Cafe Cookbook
Rotini w/Lemon, Tomatoes and Arugula (using cherry tomatoes and arugula from my garden)--Barefoot Contessa at Home Cookbook
Contemplating making Lemon Squares for a poker party tonight.
I made a big stuffed eggplant last night, and we'll be eating the leftovers again tonight! We've got a kitchen full of wonderful fresh produce -- zucchini, arugula, avocado, heirloom tomatoes, red corn . . . I'm such a big salad will be in order at some point! It's also time for me to make a new batch of yogurt tonight -- we've been using the Easiyo machine with powdered milk, and it makes fabulous yogurt.
Marcella Hazan's Frittelle di Zucchine col Pomodoro Fresco. Sort of like Latkas made with zucchini. YUM
i love looking at this page for suggestions every weekend. i'm definitely planning a cake of some sort. happy weekend!
I am including fish in the concept of harvest since their season is limited as well. A local store has a sale on whole Alaskan sockeye, and that is what I will be grilling for the family on the deck tomorrow. Something else will accompany it. I may smoke half, I may grill half, but we will enjoy it and do it honor.
tonight we did a pasta carbonara with freshly shelled peas and pea shoots from the market! we adapted it from suzanne goin's sunday suppers at lucques and it was amazing. best thing i know to do with fresh peas!

When I get sick of all things summer squash/zucchini, I go for this pasta--Summer Squash Angel Hair. I also have to recommend Arthur Schwartz's recipe for Spaghetti con Melanzane. It uses up lots of eggplant and tomatoes, and it's amazingly good.
I now have the pickling bug after attempting a Cooking Light recipe with a giant cucumber from my CSA share:

(If you like the bread and butter pickle variety - these are for you!)
This weekend, I'm thinking about working with some CSA kohlrabi that's been patiently resting in my refrigerator using this recipe from Modern Beet: http://www.modernbeet.com/archives/138
What's cooking this weekend? Me. We're having our 6th consecutive 90 degree heat wave, with 100 degrees predicted for today.
Nevertheless, we'll soldier on. I'm going to try lamb burgers with grilled eggplant tomorrow for a late lunch, and then have a few friends over to watch the Mad Men premiere. Going to try to figure out some 60s era appetizers to put out for them.
Heirloom tomato tart and ma po tofu. Yay!
Lemon and thyme cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and tomorrow steak on the grill with courgette... maybe attempting some chips on there too. Also going to roast some beetroot for the week ahead.
Took my first farmer's market trip this morning, finally. Not terribly close, but lots of fun, and good value. Faves: some delicious mature Somerset cheddar, and a mega loaf of sourdough.
:)
We started the weekend with corn tortillas (tacos, then huevos rancheros for breakfast this morning), a rhubarb upside-down cake, and then I made dashi from scratch for miso soup to go with sushi. I'm spoiling my husband, but he's been doing the dishes like a champ!
Broil honey-soy glazed salmon, all ingredients are in the title.
Took a Boston Butt and cut it in half. One half was the slow-cook hoisin pork which part was then thrown in a stir-fry on Friday. The other half was slow cooked into carnitas which was made into enchiladas with spanish rice from scratch. Also threw together a chicken stew like a Brunswich but NO LIMA BEANS-yuk. Also since the berries are everywhere made a mixed berry and nectarine crisp. Now I wish I had vanilla ice cream. Sunday will see cinnamon raisin french toast with black raspberry sauce. ok now I'm tired
OMG_I just had to tell you all- I think I finally hit on a dressing that works- Olive oil, balsamic, honey and crushed raspberries. I pour it over a cantaloupe salad- AMAZING!!
pickled daikon matchsticks for making lemongrass tofu and grilled pork loin banh mi.
7 pounds of blueberries from a u-pick trip is getting baked into pies or going into the freezer.
4 pounds of kirbies going into the fermenter.
oh, and lots of watermelon juice.
Eggplant curry is my favorite dish. It really opened my eyes to eggplant. Healthy, delicious and easy to prepare.
Friday I made Hawaiian pizza and had the leftovers for breakfast yesterday morning. So far today I've made iced tea and basil lime syrup to sweeten it, dough for a strawberry and chocolate galette, and right now I'm making cold sesame noodles to go with ginger chicken for dinner.
Last night I cooked some lamb in the crockpot. Then I made a sauce of coconut paste, curry, spices and broth from the pot. Mixed in some lentils and rice, served with lamb overtop, and a glass of fresh lassi. It was divine.
