Tonight will be margaritas on the patio while nibbling pita chips/cruidites dipped in roasted red pepper and white bean dip while we decide what we want to make for dinner: croque monsieur or hawaiian pizza from the leftover Easter ham that I defrosted this morning. The next few days, whatever we make, will be grilled as the weather is forecasted to be in the 80s.
Looking forward to reading everyone else's plans. Have a great weekend!
Chard, carrots, asparagus, spinach, green leaf lettuce, leeks, and a few strawberries and what I've got to work with this weekend, thanks to csa delivery this week.
Momofuku Milk Bar's compost cookies, honeydrew ice cream, truffled tater tots, Korean zucchini pancakes, and maybe, just maybe, lilikoi malasadas....
I hit the farmers market today to grab a bunch of stuff. I'm planning to cook a lot so that we have leftovers to bring to lunch all next week.
- Quinoa Chili
- Meyer Lemon Grain Salad with Asparagus, Almonds and Goat Cheese
- Curried Vegetable and Chickpea Stew
- Lazy Day Peanut Noodle Salad
pound cakes for kids to take to music festival campout
baked potatoes and fried oysters for us
Cream scones for my friend who just had a baby and a big pot of chicken curry.
I love that runner & the plates. Where are they from??
Dinner will depend on our farmer's market finds tomorrow.
Sunday breakfast, eggs benedict on homemade biscuits and my hollandaise, for my family.
Bought our first soft-shell crabs of the season today - so that is dinner tonight. Rest will figure out as we go.
Lentil Sloppy Joe's from the slow cooker tonight. Hoping to pick up some fresh spot prawns for tomorrow. Thinking a simple broth of garlic, wine, parsley and bay leaf to steam them in. Oh, must make no-knead bread for dipping!
Sunday brings dinner with my Grandparents, and I finally get to make pineapple upside-down cake.
I made some delicious bread Wednesday that needs to be eaten. Tastes of King's Hawaiian...quite good.
Besides that, I dunno. I've been pretty uninspired lately, not feeling like eating much and not eating well. But we have a new grocery store that has good produce so maybe that will help. Plus, I should be eating veg from my garden soon enough.
Quiche! My boyfriend has celiac, so I make a cornmeal/rice flour pressed pastry crust, and then load the toasted crust with tons of bacon, caramelized onions, broccoli and cheddar. Top it with ketchup, and it's not often that this even makes it to becoming leftovers!
Tonight was blackened salmon with penne tossed with homemade alfredo sauce and asparagus. Tomorrow night I'll broil asparagus and use some leftover four cheese polenta to make a "pizza".
Breakfast will be the same peanut butter sandwich with grapefruit juice and coffee...blah blah boring.
After a cheese run, this beet recipe looks exciting. I also want to make a vegetarian version of this gorgeous cabbage dumpling soup.
Then I need to write up a post for the enchiladas I just made, but I can let tart dough chill while that happens.
I'm making this tofu dish for a light lunch that is surprisingly flavorful and delicious!

Last night I made Chicken with Black Beans and Corn. I was counting on leftovers to go with homemade corn tortillas but there isn't much left.

Today--probably curry and I have strawberries for our first batch of jam this year! Also starting a batch of sourdough starter.
Sunday--whole wheat bread, and something new with turkey breast I have in the freezer.
Mushroom curry quesadilla

@Noogs, the runner is this Lovina runner from Anthro, and the plates are those 60-cent IKEA plates. I forget the name, maybe LUGN or its predecessor? Anyway, I have a big stack of those dishes around for when the party is too big for our normal china/dishes.
Thanks for the runner info @faith, I was also coveting it and wondering where I might find it!
Barbecue blade of pork tonight. Tomorrow, burgers on our brand new grill, plus a veggie barley dish and roasted squash for lunches in the week. Glorious weather in London!
we are enjoying dressed-up sandwiches for dinner this weekend, to celebrate the warmer weather with lighter meals!

I made cinnamon quick bread the other day and my girls went crazy for it, so I'll probably make that again.
I have two loaves of artisan white bread in the oven now, and we're going to make pizza a little later today.
And my husband just planted some Thai basil so he's going to try out a shrimp with Thai basil recipe!
Nice yummy weekend. :)
Making bread sounds like a nice thought, although I always make a huge mess when it happens (so that means it doesn't happen often xD).
Slow cooker pork chops mmmm
Cooking from the farmer's market this weekend! Pork chops with rhubarb compote, asparagus on the side. Grilled flank steak for Sunday dinner with, yes, more asparagus!
After doing battle in the backyard with relocation of some bamboo over past month, I am finally getting back to the kitchen. I am cooking the red beans and rice recipe from CI -- something simple, and I hope, simply good. I got some nice tasso from a local meatarie and some Uli's andouille sausage from the local Thriftway.

My favorite food article from the past week was the Slate article where the writer cooked two dinners of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuits, iceberg lettuce salad, and pineapple upside-down cake following two recipes from the Pioneer Woman and Thomas Keller. I thought it was quite illuminating.
I tried a link to no avail, but the writer was Jennifer Reese, and the article ran on Wednesday.
Pad thai last night due to prepped ingredients left over from middle of the week.
Lemon risotto with roasted shrimp and recently foraged ramps (a consolation prize from an unsuccessful morel foray) and a buttermilk cake today.
I just picked up a new bag of ancho chile powder from Penzeys and our local Mexican grocer put in new produce cases and filled them with a bunch of great, fresh looking stuff so I must abide by the universe and make something with tomatillos, poblanos, cilantro, etc. tomorrow.
Tarte Tatin! So yummy and so easy!
I made a Tortilla-Crusted Sausage and Asparagus Quiche- adapted from a recipe in the Rachel Ray magazine. I also picked up some Rhubarb at the farmer's market - looking to make some Rhubarb bars for something sweet!
It's cool and rainy here today and I saw a small rump roast today and decided to bring it home. It's cooking now in coffee, rosemary, onion, basil, salt and pepper. It makes a really nice gravy so of course we'll be needing potatoes too.
Rhubarb compote sounds great. Sadly my rhubarb got a mosaic virus the last year so it's no more.
Sigh...three tries at getting it to take, five years to get established, and now this.
Last night I grilled up Boka Dushi, a Dutch West Indies recipe for a spicy marinaded chicken served with a peanut/tomato dipping sauce. To go with it, I served a mix of baby greens with roasted beets and goat cheese, grilled yellow squash, lightly sauteed asparagus, and grilled garlic bread. It was so good. We finished with glasses of port and a chocolate/raspberry s'mores tart.
Tonight, it's a London Broil in the crockpot with a mustard-red wine reduction.
@Merry123, that breaks my heart about your rhubarb!! Condolences!
