What's cooking this weekend? We are thinking about warm and comforting casseroles, as well as holiday parties! Cheese boards (see above), sparkling wines, and delicious nibbles all sound very good. What about you? What are you cooking? Here are a few ideas from The Kitchn's past week.
• Make soup with leftover turkey stock.
• Look out! It's cookie time. We have stained glass cookies, Chez Panisse gingersnaps, Dorie Greenspan's linzer cookies, and pfeffernusse. Tips for freezing cookies, too.
• How to make spicy tuna sushi.
• Party wines under $10.
• Make bagels at home this weekend!
• What are good tools for cooks who have arthritis?
• Ten kitchen basics under $25.
• How to cook beans in the oven (and a good warning about poisonous kidney beans!)
• Have some clementines this weekend!
• Two yellow kitchens: One bright, and one warm and rich. Also, an Old World kitchen in the New World.
• Do you like holiday fruitcake?
Have a wonderful weekend! Happy cookie-baking and soup-making, and merry tea-drinking and cocoa-mixing too. See you tomorrow for a look back at our top posts from the week, and Sunday for Dana's Weekend Meditation.

Cookies, oatmeal with lots of extras in the dough. I'll be making a batch of gingersnap dough, some to bake up this weekend and some for the freezer.
Hubby just processed some pork and tomorrow we will put all of it together for Diana Kennedy's green pork stew. It's an amazing recipe that produces a soulful meal.
It's spitting icy rain here and we are right and tight inside with shrimp fried rice tonight.
To all, stay warm and dry.
Baking for a party (and to drive out the damp cold. SF in the winter really feels much, much colder than it actually is) tonight and tomorrow morning, then comes minestrone soup and fresh bread with my book club.
For the party I'll be making those puff pastry twists from a couple weeks ago and gingersnaps. Keeping it simple this time around.
That cheese board looks so good...
I feel like trying some new recipes this weekend--we're always searching for tasty gluten-free cookies. I like to adapt from recipes with all-purpose flours, so I will definitely check out some of those links above.

Cooking a pile of produce in my fridge into a big coconut curry. Squash, peppers, carrots, bok choy... Also want to give that Brussels sprout pasta a try, since I have sprouts chillin that I didn't want to throw into the curry...
I made dinner for a friend going through chemo- per her request, Spanish sherry vinegar and paprika pork tenderloin, corn pudding, roast sweet potatoes, green beans with shallots and olive oil. Meat-and-three special.
Baking for us this weekend! Chocolate Revel Bars, fudge, fruitcake, glazed nuts, pecan cups, cut out cookies...
We'll probably need some meals in there too. ;-)
Cutting down the Christmas tree today at Apple Hill in the Sierra foothills and trimming the house so we'll be keeping warm with some fresh apple donuts and hot coffee; tonight will be cracked crab w/butter, sourdough and chardonnay and tomorrow will be a four cheese baked penne-enough for two meals to eat later in the month.
I'm cooking for a party next weekend. Going to whip up curry beef turnovers (using wonton wrappers) and freeze them so I can bake them up next week. Also might do a spinach dip - wonder if that freezes well?

A bit late on the posting, but we made 400 doggy biscuits this weekend. and the most delish beef stew (http://mikes-table.themulligans.org/2009/03/15/seco-de-carne-con-tamarindo-south-american-tamarind-beef-stew/). It was very yummy.
Lamb burgers with bearnaise sauce for Sat. dinner. Hungarian goulash on Sun. and warm apple crumb cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Mmmmmm.
Spicy stew with chickpeas, chipotles and chorizo.
