I'm excited to make Sriracha-marinated tofu dae-ji, potato salad w/fava beans and fennel (the kitchn recipe!), grilled asparagus, strawberry conserve, and kale salad w/pecorino and lemon (also from the kitchn).
We're having an old school American style BBQ tomorrow with sliders, dogs, potato salad, corn on the cob, baked beans, chocolate chip cookies and more. All the classics. I can't wait!
Just made some Turkish-style fava beans with dill and mint, served with a creamy garlic yogurt sauce. Can't wait to write up the recipe and share it!
Other weekend cooking plans include miso-glazed eggplant and a big batch of double coconut granola.
I'm making some treats and a pasta salad for a baptism BBQ. It's going to be a beautiful weekend!
In no particular order: pork ribs, hamburgers and cherry ice cream. Looking forward to a great long-weekend!
The birthday girl requests a cake involving strawberries and lemon, so I'm going to start with this recipe: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/05/strawberry-shortcakecake/ and incorporate some lemon curd. :)
dieting. ugh.
Spring food! Light and cool, not warming and hearty. Let's see:
- Potato salad with tangy yogurt dressing and scallions.
- Spinach fritatta: I'll keep it in the fridge so we can grab slices all weekend for snacks or quick meals.
- Anadama bread, to bake in the cool of the evening.
- Almond cake and macerated strawberries to serve on top.
- And something to use up the English cucumber sitting in the fridge; I'll probably use some of it in sandwiches (anadama and cucumber, yum!) and make the rest into a salad: salted, drained, and dressed with orange, ginger, and sesame oil.
Having some dear friends over tonight for a make-your-own pizza party, followed by strawberry shortcake. Roast chicken with bread salad tomorrow, to be nibbled on during a lazy Monday.
I've got a huge lump of pizza dough rising merrily in the kitchen for homemade white pizzas tonight - the boy is having bacon, chorizo and chicken with peppers and mozzarella and I'm having bacon, caramelized onion, and goats cheese. Nom. Tomorrow will be chickpea and spinach curry with brown rice, and I've got a big pile of peas in pods waiting for something exciting on Monday.
Grilled adobo chicken
Everything easy this weekend, and at least one picnic. Happiest about the rhubarb haul from the farmers market this morning! A fresh strawberry-rhubarb crumble maybe? Syrup for sure. And?
Well, I got the oven all heated up to bake my anadama... and then I accidentally-on-purpose made almond granola! Yum.
banana bread, pound cake, korean tofu seafood stew (first try delicious!), chicken & mushroom stew, beef stew for lazy nights
I am making plum jelly with plums from my neighbor's tree and trying to decide what to make with today's garden harvest. Tomorrow, I will be canning tomatoes and salsa.

cmcinnyc - am jealous of your rhubarb!

Eating strawberries out of the garden. That's about it.
My husband is in California for the weekend, and I've been painting the kitchen, so I've really slacked on cooking. For dinner last night, I just used some fresh linguine from the refrigerated section in the store, and made up a sauce with leftover chicken, butter, white wine, diced tomatoes, and mushrooms. It was good, but nothing spectacular.
I think I'm going to make some chocolate chip cookies today.
A follow up from my earlier post: attempted the LA Times/Nancy Silverton focaccia recipe from Thursday's edition to great success. We had it with eggs for breakfast one morning and as an appetizer at our bbq last night. Delicious!
