#1: Natural light coming through a central, large window.
A large sink and large stove make it seem an inviting work space to me, which is what makes a kitchen welcoming in my opinion!
maybe to work in it would be cozy, but not for someone to hang out with you while you're cooking. i don't see anywhere to lean up against with a glass of wine.
Hard to tell from just one angle, but not having a practical amount of cabinet or counter space probably helps clean things up a lot.
LARGE window
huge sink
lack of chairs
lack of clutter
Huh. You see cozy, I see angular and spare.
Doesn't have unnatural colors (ie, colors that don't occur naturally).
Practical -- large sink, multi-burner and multi-oven gas range, no-nonsense Chicago Faucet Company taps, wooden spoons --
and
Homey -- the big window, the art, the bright woven rug, and the vintage (looking) cabinets.
It's not over-designed as so many kitchens are, and is comfortable and easy.
I think a bench right in front of the window would be perfect. Chat while you cook, and set stuff on it when no one is there.
where can i get that rug?
Inviting to look at, but I can't imagine doing a lot of serious cooking in here. I'd swap out the 2 different-leveled pieces in the back left corner for something that functions more as counter/work space. Could be a kitchen island or low restaurant shelving topped with a custom extra-long butcher block.
If it had some color, it would be amazing. Orange comes to mind as a nice accent color.
Wooden floors and the kilim. Both, make it more cozy.
Warm-toned white on the walls and the huge number of natural materials which are usually hidden away:
- Wooden spoons, floors, table, step stool, cutting boards, storage cart
- Textile rug and dish towels
- Fruit, greens in cart
- Traditional-style appliances and cabinets/hardware
This kitchen does nothing for me. Sorry.
I love that sink!
